Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) are a new initiative being rolled out across the University from within the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT). PASS is an internationally recognised approach to peer mentoring within Higher Education. The aim of PASS is to support first year undergraduate students with their transition into Higher Education, with the development of academic, social and study skills, to help them gain confidence and ultimately to lead to improved grades and progression. This support is provided by higher year students who are trained to be "PASS Leaders".
This has been successfully trialled across nine programmes in the Academic year of 2017/2018 and a much larger roll-out will take place from September 2018.
We are looking to recruit three PASS Co-ordinators who are passionate about supporting students to enable them to make the most of their time at UCLan. If successful, you will be allocated your own programmes to manage, quality assure and develop.
Duties will be wide ranging, including developing your mentoring skills, co-ordinating programmes, providing support to the PASS Leaders, observing sessions, attending weekly meetings to support the programmes with Academic members of staff and the PASS Leaders, providing ongoing training to support the programmes, developing materials and providing support to the further development and quality of PASS.
Applicants should have previous experience of working with students in a supportive role, have an interest in and experience of supporting others in their personal development and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Hours: Full Time (36.25 hours per week - 1.0 FTE)
Basis: Fixed term contract until 30 November 2019
