We are seeking to appoint an experienced academic with a track record of leadership, to lead the Business Programmes subject area at Newman University. Your academic leadership will develop a successful team, rooted in professional practice and scholarly research, to offer an excellent student experience across our undergraduate Business programmes in Accountancy & Finance, Business Economics, Business Management and Business & Marketing, and our Masters in Business Administration. As part of the Department of Social Science and Business senior leadership team, you will work with the Head of Department to deliver positive outcomes in line with the University’s Strategic Plan.
This is a full-time, permanent post, offering an opportunity for you to further enhance your experience of academic leadership and scholarship. You will support the Department in assuring the student experience and teaching excellence, delivering new programmes of study, developing employability initiatives, achieving departmental recruitment targets, supporting colleagues to achieve high quality REF submissions, managing a devolved budget and generating positive links with professional bodies and employers.
The successful candidate will hold a Doctorate/Professional Doctorate in a relevant subject area and will be a Fellow of the HEA. You will be able to evidence high quality teaching in your own practice and a commitment to on-going CPD. You will have experience of leading successful course development at undergraduate and postgraduate level and leading initiatives to support a sustained excellent student experience in a cross-disciplinary setting. You will have a personal research profile commensurate with your career-stage, and with potential to be included in REF2021. You will also have experience of successful working with local, regional and national partners in a Business Programmes context and involvement in appropriate subject networks. Finally, you will have experience of the line-management of teams and managing a devolved budget.
