Postdoctoral Fellow in the Field of Democracy and Citizenship in Education
About the position
A temporary Post-doctoral position is available at the Institute for Teacher Education (https://www.ntnu.no/ilu), Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) Trondheim Norway, for a period of 2 years for which you are invited to apply. An extension to three years of employment can be discussed based on the Institute's current needs at the time of accession.
The social studies section members participate actively in national and international research networks, and teach subjects included in the five-year master's program in elementary school teacher education, in teacher education, practical-pedagogical education and 2-year master's degree programs in social studies. The section is also responsible for teaching didactics in history, geography, and religion, as well as bachelor in archive and collection management.
The Post-doctoral fellow will be affiliated to the section for social studies, and the research group Democracy and Citizenship in Education (DACED) https://www.ntnu.edu/ilu/daced. The group currently consists of members with projects in the field of democracy and education. We aim to expand and develop international research collaboration. The project should contribute to understanding of current political changes and challenges to democracy, and accompanying debates on citizenship, inclusion, exclusion and participation. We welcome all applications within the broad scientific field of democracy and citizenship in education. We mention participation, citizenship and social movements in particular, as well as critical aspects of democracy and citizenship as important to our research group.

- If extended to three years, additional 33% workload of teaching and tutoring, work with international applications, conferences or the like.
The post doctor is expected to take part in common meetings, and contribute to development of projects using own experiences from research and preferably experiences from international collaboration. Working language will be English. To apply for a permanent position at the Institute of Teacher Education the researcher needs to master the Norwegian language at an acceptable level. Language courses will be given.
A postdoctoral research fellowships is a qualification position in which the main objective is qualification for work in academic positions. Completion of a Norwegian doctoral degree in social sciences or -didactics relevant to the field democracy and citizenship, or corresponding foreign doctoral degree recognized as equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree is required.
The appointment is to be made in accordance with the regulations in force concerning State Employees and Civil Servants and national guidelines for appointment as PhD, postdoctor and research assistant

Salary and conditions
Postdoctoral candidates are remunerated in code 1352, and are normally remunerated at gross from NOK 515 200 per annum before tax. From the salary, 2% is deducted as a contribution to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund.
