The appointee is expected to conduct independent research related to neurodegenerative diseases. The research will involve: 1) Neurodegenerative diseases, including Parkinson's disease (PD) and Alzheimer's disease (AD); 2) The roles of autophagy dysfunction and lysosome biogenesis in the neurodegenerative diseases; 3) Chinese medicine for prevention and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases; 4) Molecular targets for drug discovery from Chinese medicine for neurodegenerative diseases. The appointee will also be responsible for managing laboratory, supervising postgraduate students and writing research articles/proposals. In addition, he/she is expected to teach one course in the areas of Pharmacology or Life Science per semester.
Applicant should possess a PhD degree in Pharmacology of Chinese medicine or Biomedical Sciences and at least two years of postdoctoral experience or equivalent with very strong research track record. Training background in neurodegenerative diseases, pharmacology, cell biology (including autophagy), molecular biology and brain slice electrophysiology will be an added advantage.
Initial appointment will be made on fixed-term contract of one year. Re-appointment thereafter is subject to performance review, mutual agreement and availability of funding.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
