The Department of Language, Culture, and Communication, Modern and Classical Languages, invites applications for a full-time (six courses per year), tenure-track, open rank Professor of language, literature and culture, Arabic faculty position. Appointment begins September 1, 2019. Funding for this position has been approved.

Specialization in culture and literature of Arabic-speaking peoples or countries with one or more of the secondary areas: Arabic diaspora, Arab-American and/or Arab literature, multicultural and/or gender issues in the Arab world, mediated cultures/film of Arabic-speaking peoples.
A PhD is required prior to appointment date of September 1, 2019
Candidate must show potential for and commitment to teaching in a communicative-based language program, as well as working with talented and diverse students at the undergraduate level. Candidate will work with heritage students and native speakers of Arabic. Familiarity with the technology for language teaching is highly desirable. In addition to the teaching duties, the candidate will direct the Arabic program and participate in the discipline’s extracurricular and outreach activities, as well as work closely with students and faculty to grow the Arabic Studies profile within the University of Michigan-Dearborn and its surrounding community.
This position is posted as Assistant Professor/Associate Professor. The rank of the selected candidate will depend upon candidates qaulifications.
