A 6 month part time post is available immediately for a Level 4 Research Technician on a project investigating fetal-onset hydrocephalus in a rodent model of this neurological condition. The applicant must hold a Home Office Personal Licence to carry out animal procedures including daily intraperitoneal dosing and tissue collection. Experience with fetal tissue would be useful.
For this post it is important that applicants have the necessary laboratory skills for tissue collection and processing, histology, cryotomy and immunohistochemistry as well as Western blotting and tissue blotting.
They will work closely with a postdoctoral researcher to achieve the research objectives. In addition to the specific needs of the project the appointee will provide general technical support, with minimal supervision, in a range of project specific research activities including: the running and troubleshooting of experiments; the maintenance, use and teaching of research associated equipment.
There will also be a requirement to assist team members in ensuring that staff and students operate safe working practices ensuring health and safety compliance within the laboratories.
