FACULTY / SUBJECT AREA: Media and Performance / Performance Design
SALARY: £24,771 per annum
Full-time, Permanent

Arts University Bournemouth is the leading professional arts university dedicated to turning creativity into careers. Offering courses in art, design, architecture, media and performance, we are passionate about our specialist subjects and dedicated both to education and the creative industries which we serve.

An opportunity exists to join a team of skilled technical staff, supporting students of the BA (Hons) Make-Up for Media and Performance course, and across collaborative projects of complementary subjects.

You will have knowledge, understanding and experience of one of more of the specialist areas of course delivery; which include make-up, wigs, hair, postiche and prosthetics; alongside an appreciation of the associated techniques. Experience of working in an education setting is desirable, whilst understanding effective workplace health and safety and the ability to work as a member of a team, and independently using your own initiative, is essential.
Reporting to the subject area Senior Technician, the successful candidate will deliver and support technical and health and safety workshops and demonstrations to groups of students on new and existing equipment, resources, processes and techniques; issue and receive equipment and resources to and from the dispensary and stores, undertake first line maintenance and maintain inventories and asset lists; provide effective and reactive technical support throughout the working day; and ensure processes are followed to maintain high standards of health, safety and welfare.
You will need to be flexible in your approach to the working day and environment as this varied post supports a diverse range of individuals, and will entail evening working on a rota basis, and the occasional requirement for weekend work; both of which may be on or off the University’s main campus.

You must possess GCSE grade A-C, or equivalent, in English and Maths and a minimum level 3 qualification in an associated subject. A subject relevant degree qualification, or equivalent professional experience in an appropriate field, would be advantageous.
