This is a fixed term vacancy providing specialist technical support with special emphasis on Electrical Engineering, including development of Electrical /Electronic laboratories, PCB design and development. You will be responsible for highly complex Scientific Technologies in the subject area introducing innovative techniques into areas of research and academic delivery in support of learning, teaching, research and enterprise activity in the faculty.
You will advise, assist and instruct staff and students in appropriate procedures for the safe operation, monitoring, maintenance, security and use of specialist apparatus and equipment used in Faculty laboratories, in accordance with the needs of academic programmes and research activity.  You will embrace new technology and software/hardware manipulation to introduce innovative techniques into areas of research and academic delivery. The role holder will be required to assist in the provision of support to dedicated laboratories, and work with students on both an individual and group basis, advising on equipment & engineering concepts. You will also provide support in timetabled sessions to students, working with Faculty academic staff as required.

You must have proven knowledge in the subject areas and relevant software, with demonstrable experience of delivering complex explanations to realise multifaceted, highly intricate engineering technologies, supporting the delivery of learning, teaching, research and enterprise activity within the Faculty.

While supporting the above activities you will be required to introduce safe working practices and manage the operation and maintenance of advanced laboratory equipment, including the requirement to dismantle and undertake first line maintenance of specialist equipment and machinery.
