HTMi is seeking to appoint a new Head of Academics and Research based in our campus in Sörenberg, situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty within the UNESCO biosphere Gemeinde Fluehli-Sörenberg in the Canton of Lucerne.
The Head of Academics and Research will be responsible for leading and managing a team of academics in terms of their regular teaching roles and developing their individual skills, qualifications, attributes and competencies. Aligned with terrific people development skills will be a passion for research and instilling the same in both staff and students. It is anticipated that the Head will be seen regularly in the classroom environment leading teaching activities at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
The Head of Academics and Research will have extensive experience as an academic and have a well developed research profile with recent relevant journal publications and/or book/conference contributions. Naturally a background from the Hospitality industry is anticipated and the successful applicant will have substantial experience of working in the quality hotel sector or broader hospitality industry.
Doctorate level qualification is preferred but an outstanding individual with a Master’s degree and appropriate experience will be considered. Should also have a recognised qualification related to Teaching at FE or HE level.
We seek individuals who have an excellent understanding of Swiss and UK Higher Education quality systems and processes in relation to the delivery of Bachelors and Masters degrees. A good understanding of further education Certificate and Diploma levels would be beneficial as would an understanding and enthusiasm for Culinary Arts courses.
Experience is also expected of general Quality precepts, assessment and exam board management and the demonstrable evidence of high student achievement and satisfaction. Having clear people management experience and the ability to motivate and inspire teams will be deemed to be highly important for the successful applicant. The individual will be fluent in English and some German speaking/writing skills would be advantageous.
