The Department of DCAD at Durham University seeks to appoint a talented individual to the role of Teaching Fellow. We welcome applications from those with teaching interests in the broad field of Biology and we are particularly eager to hear from applicants with a focus on Foundation or transitional level in Biology
This post offers an exciting opportunity to make a contribution to the development of the Foundation Programme teaching and curriculum, while allowing you unrivalled opportunities to progress and embed your career in an exciting and progressive institution. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high quality teaching on Foundation modules, administrative tasks and participating in Scholarship activities as agreed. The role is split between teaching, with its attendant administration and general Foundation Programme administrative duties.
The teaching element of the role will involve curriculum development, and the planning and delivery of lessons. It will include assessment design, delivery of assessment, marking and quality assurance. The students being taught are split between our 4 programmes: Science; Arts & Humanities; Social Science; and Business and Psychology; and consequently classes will be a mixture of local, mature and non-traditional students and EU students. Staff will work as part of a team to ensure a holistic approach to student learning.
Engaging in Scholarship and being prepared to take on collaborative work. Preparing and presenting papers on the Scholarship undertaken when appropriate
Administrative duties will include admissions, recruitment and marketing; and student support
Candidates will be expected to engage in some scholarship related to pedagogy noting that any other independent research (beyond pedagogy) is not part of this post.
