Richmond, The American International University in London is looking for a User Services Librarian to ensure the provision of an effective service for students and faculty by delivering excellent front-line customer services and effective dissemination of information. Main duties will include to support students and faculty with first line help including the demonstration of library resources and dealing with complex enquiries regarding reference/research material; promote the library service and resources; manage the library environment and ensure its continued sustainability. 

Excellent organisation and communications skills are required together with demonstrable experience of a student centric approach that is focussed to achieve an enhanced student experience. Experience of recruiting, managing and appraising staff is essential as well as a strong commitment to providing and continually developing professional library services. Experience with promoting services using a range of techniques and platforms is desirable. 

Library staff are required to work a fixed number of hours on an annual basis with scheduled variations over the academic year to meet the needs of students and the academic calendar commitments. Flexibility to work outside core hours and additional hours to deal with peak workloads is required. Library staff are encouraged to take their annual leave allowance outside of semester time.
