An exciting opportunity for a part-time (0.5 FTE) postdoctoral Research Associate position has become available in the Neuroscience Research Group within the School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences.
The highly dynamic and multidisciplinary Neuroscience Research Group within the School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences at the University of Central Lancashire encompasses a broad range of collaborative research projects involving universities and NHS trusts in the region working together to advance the diagnosis and treatment of brain disorders https://www.uclancbsresearch.co.uk/theme/neurosciences/
Using an all-human dynamic flow 3D in vitro model of the BBB established by Dr Jane Alder's Research Group, pathological changes that occur at the BBB during neurodegeneration will be modelled following microbiological exposure and induction of an inflammatory phenotype. Three key areas will be investigated: 1) changes in the disease induced in vitro BBB model verses healthy in vitro BBB; 2) how mechanisms of damage at the BBB lead to changes in the brain parenchyma, in particular microglia and 3) identification of druggable anti-inflammatory targets at the BBB.
