To perform work in the fabrication, installation, maintenance and repair of complex electrical, electronic and electromechanical equipment, devices, distribution apparatus, and electronic circuitry.
Install, repair and maintain electronic equipment and instruments, including but not limited to portable and mobile radios, alarm reporting equipment, public address systems,UM clock systems, security, CCTV and access control systems.Inspect, test, analyze and repair malfunctions of electrical and industrial electronic equipment,using ammeter, voltmeter, ohmmeter, oscilloscope, RF Spectrum Analyzer, schematics and visual inspections.Install and/or modify standard electrical and electronic circuitry for new or changed applications of electrical and electronic equipment, instruments or systems.Advise faculty and staff on the proper use and care of electrical, industrial electronic equipment and instruments and resolve problems resulting from improper set up and use.Diagnose malfunctions and repair printed circuits by soldering breaks in the printed circuit,replacing resistors, capacitors, integrated circuits, diodes, transistors and other component parts.Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, circuit and schematic diagrams and job specifications.Prepare records and service reports of materials and time expended.
Fabricate and install control and distribution apparatus, including switches, relays and circuit-breaker panels, fastening them in place with screws or bolts.Connect wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment, using hand tools.Cut, thread, bend and route conduit lines, and pull wire through conduit by means of fish tape.Dismantle and repair equipment, replacing defective devices, modules, wires and burned out fuses.Test continuity of electrical circuits in installed or repaired equipment, using electrical measuring instruments.Perform preventive maintenance activities, including but not limited to periodic visual inspections, electrical analysis, data recording, taping frayed or exposed wires and securing loose connections. Cut or bore through walls, ceilings or partitions.Install or public address equipment and temporary lines for electrical services.
Graduation from high school and specialized training in industrial electronic and electrical work is necessary.Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches and schematic diagrams is necessary.Considerable knowledge of the tools, equipment, methods and materials involved in industrial electronic and electrical work is necessary.Some experience in the maintenance and repair of specialized medical electronic and electromechanical equipment may be necessary.Reasonable knowledge of the maintenance requirements of electrical and electronic equipment,fixtures and devices is necessary.Reasonable experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of industrial electronic and electrical equipment and devices is necessary. Licensure by the Federal Communications Commission may be required Must be able to fulfill the requirements necessary to drive a University vehicle.
Normal schedule is 7am to 3:30pm, Monday - Friday. However, the selected candidate for this position might be asked to work overtime including staying after hours or working on the weekends.
