The Role

This role supports and assists MUSEC teaching staff in the delivery of daily education programs for children with a range of disabilities in years K to 6. The Classroom Assistant undertakes tasks aimed at supporting student’s participation in the program. This includes assisting the students in the classroom, with personal care and playground as required.

The successful applicant will have experience working as part of a team to support students K-6 with a range of disabilities. You will be flexible, reliable and enjoy taking on a wide range of different tasks to support colleagues.

Located in Macquarie University (Macquarie Park, North Ryde), Macquarie University Special Education Centre (MUSEC School) is a kindergarten to year 6 school for children with special learning needs. MUSEC School in the Department of Educational Studies, Faculty of Human Sciences, provides onsite practicum experience for postgraduate students in special education.

Selection Criteria

  • Experience working or had experience with children with disability
  • Experience working in a day care or school environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to support students with special needs
  • Knowledge of safety standards and protocols for working with children

This position requires you to comply with occupational screening, assessment and vaccinations in line with Macquarie University health requirements and requires a current and valid Working with Children Check Clearance for NSW. You may also have to satisfy Macquarie University that you meet all background checks (including criminal record and qualification checks).

Appointment Type: 2 x 1-year fixed term, full-time (1 position is parental leave replacement)
