A research lab technician intermediate position is available immediately. We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual with background in molecular biology, DNA isolation for genotyping, and immunology. The research focus will be on processing and immuno-profiling of healthy human subjects and patients with lupus and psoriasis. These analyses will involve primary cell isolation and culture from blood and skin, treatment of cell culture and analysis of responses.
The successful candidate will be involved in a large research program that will involve studying effects of age, gender, and race on immune responses and mechanisms in both health and disease. It will involve: culture of primary skin cells (keratinocytes, fibroblasts) and immune cell populations from blood (T, B cells, monocytes); treatment of cultured cells with various immune modulators; Isolation of RNA, DNA and protein; Flow cytometry and CyTOF analyses; preparing samples for RNA- and ATAC-seq and single-cell RNA-sequencing. In addition to these research roles, this individual will also be involved with general lab maintenance roles, including the organization and maintenance of lab supplies and equipment and general lab upkeep.
- Bachelor's Degree with 1-2 years experience
- Strong cell and molecular biology knowledge and skills
- Knowledge and understanding of laboratory safety
- Proficiency in RNA/DNA isolation, QRTPCR
- Proficiency in flow cytometry
- Prong organization and multitasking skills
- Ability and willingness to learn and implement novel experimental techniques
- Team player, works well with others
- Able to follow detailed instructions
- Clear communication
