The Center for Clinical Outcomes Development and Application (CODA) within the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Michigan is seeking a full-time, mid-level tenure track faculty member with expertise in measurement (patient reported outcomes, standardized testing). CODA's research portfolio includes funding from federal, industry and non-profit organizations, and includes collaborations across Michigan Medicine, as well as over 18 academic institutions nationwide. CODA is designed to provide expert consultation for measurement selection and application to evaluate clinical questions and interventions, to develop new measures using state-of-the-art methods that maximize measurement validity, precision, sensitivity, efficiency, and clinical relevance, and to utilize novel measurement systems and strategies to inform the creation and refinement of interventions to improve the HRQOL of those we care for.
This faculty member will work closely with Dr. Noelle Carlozzi (Director), as the co-Director and will help increase the international profile of this center. The successful candidate will help execute CODA’s mission to achieve excellence in measurement development, selection, and application to improve clinical health research and care. Interest and skills in measurement (i.e., test development and/or application) including an understanding of classical test theory and item response theory is imperative, although the specific area of focus can be adapted to individual strengths. Several areas of programmatic interest will receive special consideration: health services research, research study design (including clinical trials), statistical modeling and inference. The ideal candidate will have a track-record of success securing extramural funding.

This setting will provide the faculty member in this position with many opportunities to build cross-disciplinary collaborations.
Applicants must hold an MD or PHD degree. Evidence of scholarly ability (record of successful acquisition of external funding, publications in relevant peer-reviewed journals, and presentations at scientific meetings) and competence in teaching is expected. Command of statistical software such as SPSS and SAS is also required.
