The Platforms team within IT Services is seeking to recruit a Storage and Backups Senior Systems Administrator within the Storage and Databases Team. This role has responsibility for the development, support and maintenance of the University’s mission critical IT infrastructure. This role will have full Senior Systems Administration responsibility for the storage and backup central services, including input into architecture, strategy, design and implementation.
This role will suit a critical thinker who is self-motivated and enthusiastic about working in a fast paced and dynamic team environment.
It is important that you understand the concepts and problems of enterprise level IT infrastructure and services, large scale platforms and remote administration, working with many levels of complexity. Ideally you should possess an ability to innovate solutions for the benefit of the organisation as a whole.
You must have demonstrable experience and knowledge of administering complex storage and backups solutions, at an enterprise scale.
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills are essential to the role. You must be committed to delivering an excellent level of customer service for staff and students while also meeting the organisation's strategic goals and financial objectives.
Essential skills and experience would include:
- Enterprise storage arrays
- Enterprise scale NAS solutions
- Enterprise backup solutions
- Troubleshooting problems in a complex environment
Desired skills and experience would include:
- Nimble storage arrays
- Networker backups
- Scripting skills
- Windows server
- Understanding of networking concepts
Suitable applicants must have a degree relevant to IT Services or vocational experience which demonstrates equivalent professional development. ITILv3 Foundation Diploma is desirable.
