Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Liverpool John Moores University in partnership with LivingLens Ltd.

This is a 22 month fixed term post based at the LivingLens premises in Liverpool but employed by Liverpool John Moores University.

LivingLens and Liverpool John Moores University have collaborated to run a Knowledge Transfer Partnerships project with the aim to develop an intelligent system for data mining, to provide a competitive advantage and to allow LivingLens clients to make better business decisions based on actionable insights.

Headquartered in Liverpool, with offices in London, New York and Toronto, LivingLens is developing the world’s leading platform for Video Business Intelligence. LivingLens provides a solution that enables businesses to target, capture, search and analyse the spoken word, objects, activity and emotions within video, to effortlessly drive insights & analytics for brands and agencies, along with a mechanism to edit and reuse meaningful content within media, quickly and more efficiently. The company is serving global blue-chip companies in the FMCG, retail, automotive and market research sectors.

You will be passionate about turning the raw material of data into useful algorithms and advanced insights to drive our product forward. The ideal candidate brings great commercial acumen, technical depth with machine learning and scaled data systems experience, and the leadership capability to build and drive this area of the business.

The Data Science role will be primarily responsible for developing the AI/data science capacity within the LivingLens product, in addition helping to operationalise the vision of data-driven decisions across the organisation. This will involve building machine learning models that utilize the data created by the LivingLens, helping to develop new potential revenue streams, in addition to introducing wide ranging improvements to data policy and processes; data technology and tools; retraining and recruitment of future data roles.

The role will require good gravitas coupled with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams, to also provide advisory support and help set the data strategy for the organisation.
