The post is to assist the 'In Certain Places' curatorial research team in the research and delivery of the Preston Bus Station 50th Celebration Exhibition at the Harris Museum and Art Gallery and other sites in the City of Preston. This will include helping to assist in creating a successful project jointly developed by The Harris and In Certain Places. Established in 2003, In Certain Places seeks to generate new and creative ways of inhabiting and informing the future of places through an ongoing programme of artistic interventions within the City of Preston. Interdisciplinary in nature, and spanning a range of art forms, our work includes instigating temporary public art works and architectural commissions, artist residency and research projects, and public talks, discussions and events.
The successful applicant will have good honours degree or postgraduate qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant subject. It is essential that they have had experience of working within cultural organisations or creative environments. This will include working within the protocols of exhibiting heritage artefacts and artworks. This experience should be supported by excellent desktop research skills including being able to use current web based software. A proportion of the role will be documenting the processes and outcomes of the project, in particular live events. Consequently, excellent skills in digital photography/film making and note taking will be important. The Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate events which may take place outside of office hours would be desirable.
