We are the Australian Institute of Family Studies (AIFS), the Australian Government’s key independent research body and advisor in the area of family wellbeing, based in Melbourne. Our work increases understanding about the factors that help Australian families thrive, or that are barriers to their wellbeing. We produce research about ‘what works for families’ and make it accessible to decision makers, practitioners and the general public.

The Institute is a Commonwealth Accredited Data Integration Authority with the capability to undertake a wide range of data linkage activities for statistical and research purposes, supporting a diverse range of internal and external clients.

We are currently seeking talented and enthusiastic applicants to join the Data Linkage team. As the Linkage Officer or Senior Linkage Officer you will assist with the provision of data linkage services that include:

  • accessing and managing data
  • conducting data linkage operations and projects
  • analysing linked datasets.

You will provide liaison by engaging with internal and external clients to deliver data linkage projects and as data custodians to help access data.

If you have qualifications and demonstrated work experience in data management, statistical, information processing, or (in particular) data linkage in fields such as, but not limited to, social science, health science, statistics or epidemiology, then we encourage you to apply. We also encourage applicants with strong backgrounds in statistics or information technology, with an aptitude for dealing with a diverse range of data. The successful applicant will have strong communication and organisational skills.

The role will be offered on a non-ongoing basis for a period of 18 months (with the possibility of extension to a maximum term of three years) at APS Level 3–4 with a salary range of $57,026 to $69,008 per annum (full-time equivalent) or APS Level 5–6 with a salary range of $71,357 to $87,948 per annum (full-time equivalent). The appointment level of the successful applicant will be determined by their skills, knowledge, qualifications and experience.

Apply now, applicants are being considered on an ongoing basis.

As soon as a quality pool of applicants is identified, shortlisting and interviews will commence.
