Job Description

Occupational Summary:

The Duke University Center for Human Disease Modeling is seeking a Research Technician to become a member of our research team. This work will involve performing a variety of technical scientific duties in a dynamic atmosphere. This position is a 6 months term-limited position but may be extended based on work requirements and funding.  

The work schedule for this position will be Thursday through Monday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm.
 
Responsibilities:

  • Technical duties conducted routinely include gene editing, DNA and RNA extraction, DNA sequencing, gene expression studies, and microscopy.
  • Work with research animals including zebrafish embryo manipulation immunostaining, and assistance with maintenance of adult zebrafish stocks.
  • Data analysis and interpretation. Document procedures and collect data in an organized, complete, and ethical fashion as well as analyze, interpret, and summarize experimental results.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Previous laboratory experience is preferred, work with aquatic animals strongly preferred but not required.
