Lead and manage assigned programs and projects under minimal supervision. Major projects will include, but are not limited to: 

  • Cardinal Conversations – The Cardinal Conversations program (program name will change based on student committee decision), a university-wide initiative under the purview of the Provost, will be facilitated by the Vice Provost for Student Affairs. 
  • Case Management Project – The case management project entails reviewing and rewriting policies and protocols related to supporting students experiencing serious challenges. 
  • IDEAL initiative – The IDEAL initiative, developed as part of the Stanford long-range planning process is being launched and the Vice Provost for Student Affairs will lead the student-related component of this effort. 


  • Lead the planning, implementation, administration and evaluation of special projects managed by SA central administration that have significant business, regulatory and/or technical challenges. These projects involve high-visibility innovations related to student life at Stanford, spanning multiple Student Affairs departments and disparate administrative and academic units.
    • Provide input to project approaches and execute portions of the projects with or without supervision. Assist in the implementation of the program design. 
    • Develop, revise and facilitate implementation of procedures related to special projects.
  • Evaluate programs or functions, policies and procedures. Identify issues, and develop alternative solutions which may include changes to programs, policies and procedures.
    • Review and re-write policies and protocols. 
    • Independently undertake research to collect and analyze data, create reports; formulate recommendations to achieve special project goals. 
  • Review and analyze trends to advise and develop recommendations to achieve or modify the goals of the program or function.
  • Represent Student Affairs in meetings and provide information and/or training within the division and at the university level and/or to external/internal stakeholders and constituencies.
    • Create and develop agendas and content discussions, help to lead conversations and dialogue, determine who across the university should be involved.
    • Coordinate scheduling and logistics of meetings and events with central administration staff support, as available. Manage high profile events.
    • Maintain records, meeting notes, email communications, website and other materials, agendas, follow-up lists and scheduling for special projects and events. Staff the leaders of special project teams, and manage budget and financial transactions.
  • Manage and contribute to the development of outreach strategy to students, faculty and staff that may include relationship development, communications and compliance.
  • May direct staff to perform various tasks and assignments.
  • Develop and/or oversee special projects budget; manage finances including monitoring, analyzing, forecasting, and reporting.

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree and five years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.

Certifications and Licenses:



  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks. 
  • Frequently stand/walk, sitting, grasp lightly/fine manipulation.
  • Occasionally use a telephone. 
  • Rarely lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh 11-20 pounds.
