Purpose

The Curriculum Manager handles all classroom and curriculum planning for degree program courses at the Stephen M. Ross School of Business (Ross). The person in this position schedules exams; monitors and assists with course evaluations, grade entry, and course proposal review; and serving an important role in the larger Registrar’s Office team. This person reports to the Director of the Ross Registrar’s Office and Financial Aid and supervises two staff.

Scheduling

  • Manage the strategic planning and scheduling of for-credit courses for the undergraduate and graduate degree programs at Ross.
  • Work with the Area Chairs and Associate Deans on planning the courses to be scheduled (best times, dates, and fit with degree requirements), scheduling the classrooms in Ross, and overseeing input of data into the Wolverine Access Curriculum pages.
  • Schedule mid-term and special final exams, and determine the Ross Academic Calendar within the boundaries of the University calendar.
  • Work with other parts of the University to ensure compliance with the Provost’s directives.
  • Analyze and provide data and demographic reports of student enrollments, as requested.

Curriculum

  • Coordinate Faculty Council course proposal review for new courses and changes in existing courses.
  • Make recommendations to the Faculty Councils regarding course pre-requisites and course numbering, and work closely with Program Managers to determine timing of class offerings.
  • Maintain index and file Curriculum Committee minutes and track experimental courses.
  • Manage the grade entry course evaluation process and coordinate release of data relative to grade submission.
  • Prepare grade distribution analysis for deans.
  • Provide course and class information for Course Bidding, mass enrollment, and block enrollment processes.

Supervision and Communications

  • Oversee two staff with responsibilities focused on curriculum support, student registration processes, and communications.
  • Direct communications to student groups regarding registration issues.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2-3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required
  • Demonstrated Excel skills and extensive data management experience.
  • Must be able to analyze, evaluate, and summarize enrollment and class scheduling data upon request and as part of class scheduling.
  • Must possess highly professional communication skills to communicate under pressure with faculty, students, and staff.
  • Must be able to plan and organize logically and effectively, establish priorities, and set and meet goals independently.
  • Must be discreet and able to work with sensitive material confidentially.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Previous experience in an academic institution doing similar work and an understanding of curriculum management is preferred.
  • Training and demonstrated use of the MPathways Curriculum Module is preferred.
  • Previous managerial experience, especially working with senior faculty and staff.
  • Experience pulling data from and creating reports in Business Objects.
