MAKER DIGITAL SYSTEMS ARCHITECTMIT Information Initiative (MITii), to manage the enterprise-level IT systems for Project Manus and Make Impact Consortium (MIC), including Mobius, MIT Maker Connect, MakerShare and future systems. Will oversee the evolution of these systems and solicit, review, and recommend future developers; and collaborate on ensuring these systems are positioned to evolve, operate reliably, follow budget constraints, and meet the needs of MIT/MIC/partners.  Responsibilities include leading the discovery, maintenance, management, development, and deployment of these IT systems; successfully delivering and enhancing Mobius, MIC portal, and MIT Maker Connect system to understand student usage of makerspaces on campus; leading discovery and implementation of new IT systems; coordinating with MIT IS&T and managing/collaborating with IT consultants on operations; and other duties as needed. 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineer; eight years’ software and systems architecture experience, including data modeling; experience working with enterprise web APIs; experience managing software delivery projects through all phases; experience with multiple database technologies (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, Postgres); ability to effectively work with faculty, senior officers, staff, and students; demonstrated diplomacy, leadership experience, and ability to work independently and on teams with rapidly evolving priorities; outstanding communication and organization skills; workflow management and project planning experience; and knowledge of a breadth of maker tools and activities, proficiency with some maker tools, and a desire to develop proficiency in maker tools common to MIT and MIC members (e.g., 3D printer, laser cutter, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, CNC router, lathe, mill, etc.).  MIT experience; familiarity with multiple programming languages (e.g., python, JavaScript, Ruby, embedded controllers); and experience with online learning platforms like edX preferred. Job #16722-Q
