Job Summary

The Mission of Global REACH is to facilitate health research, education, and collaboration among learners and faculty with our global partners to reduce health disparities for the benefit of communities worldwide. We are focused on five key goals:

In response to significant demand from our international partner institutions, Global REACH has created an Executive Education Program aimed at developing leadership skills and knowledge of hospital management, graduate education, and clinical research methods among mid-level directors and managers. The program will bring Michigan Medicine’s excellence to our partner institutions, and will support and enhance collaborative relationships that benefit our faculty and learners. The Program Manager will play a key role in launching and managing this program.

Responsibilities*

Working under the direction of the Director for Asia Programs, this individual will develop, plan and coordinate all administrative and logistical aspects of the Executive Education Program. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Manage the delivery of an Executive Education Program to 3-6 cohorts of international learners per year
  • Design overall program and customize to meet unique learning objectives of each cohort
  • Develop the program schedule and secure speakers’ commitments, arrange curriculum-related visits and tours, and schedule social/team-building activities
  • Coordinate communication between directors and clients
  • Coordinate and oversee assessment of participants’ backgrounds and English skills; when necessary, arrange for provision of translation services
  • Prepare and disseminate the pre-program learning materials to participants, assemble faculty and speakers’ bios, and collect teaching materials
  • Facilitate each course day; serve as a liaison between speakers and trainees, ensure appropriate classroom setup, time management, handle in-room and off-site logistics, and troubleshoot any problems that may arise.

  • Evaluate the purpose, impact and implication of each assessment

  • Working with the Director of Asia Programs, interview, hire, and plan /oversee onboarding activities
  • Oversee day-to-day activities and provide mentorship for performance development
  • Work with the Director of Asia Programs to complete performance evaluations, and address any performance deficiencies, if necessary.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of professional experience
  • Fluency with written and verbal Mandarin language
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated initiative and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, and partner institutions from many different backgrounds; demonstrated commitment to diversity

Desired Qualifications*

  • Master’s degree in public health, business administration, or higher education
  • Previous experience in global health
  • Knowledge of University of Michigan practices, rules and regulations
