Associate Professor in Advanced Computing
Skoltech Center for Computational and Data-intensive Science and Engineering (CDISE) invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor with a tentative starting date of January 9, 2018 (later starting dates may be also considered).
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in mathematics, computer science or a related area. We are looking for a candidate with strong background in Advanced Computing and its applications. Candidates with substantial experience in mobile computing, cloud computing, real-time systems, highly efficient parallel storage, distributed file systems, task-specific computational hardware, distributed control systems, machine learning, hybrid computing, high performance computing and new computing hardware architectures are particularly encouraged to apply for this position. Candidates for Associate Professor rank must have an established research profile in the corresponding field as reflected through a sustained track record of high-quality research publications in international journals, presentation of research at leading international conferences, invited visiting appointments at other institutions and/or refereeing on behalf of journals. The successful candidate will also have a proven ability to attract external research funds (amount and volume as appropriate to discipline/grant opportunities) and to lead research providing direction, support and guidance to international staff, research students and colleagues as appropriate; resolving problems, making decisions and addressing any work related conflicts. Industrial and innovation experience would be a significant plus.
It is expected that the appointed candidates will take an active part in Skoltech and CDISE strategic activities on development of large-scale HPC & Big Data research and innovation infrastructure.
Faculty duties include teaching at graduate level, advising student and innovation projects, and conducting application-oriented research. All activities at Skoltech are carried out in English, therefore, candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
CDISE members conduct cross-cutting interdisciplinary research driven by modern applications in the fields of computational and data sciences. CDISE has more than a dozen research groups that are among best groups in Russia and are competitive at the international level in their prospective areas. Currently, CDISE has 17 Professors, 45 researchers, and > 60 Ph.D. students. It powers the largest educational program at Skoltech – the IT program with two tracks: “Computational Science and Engineering” and “Data Science”.
