The Space Center of the Skolkovo Institute of Technology is searching for outstanding applicants in the following area of Aerospace Engineering to fill a tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor rank by Spring 2019. Preference will be placed on applicants with research expertise in robotics and autonomous systems.  Particular focus is to address mathematical problems using the  Global Navigation Satellite System to control of robotic systems with applications in precise agriculture, forestry and construction. The candidate’s potential to aggressively leverage opportunities, to develop an impactful research program, and to teach graduate level courses will be considered. The candidates are encouraged to demonstrate a plan for successful collaborations with other faculty at Skoltech

Space Center of Skoltech supports space exploration efforts to address current societal challenges and changing nature of today’s complex systems. A variety of research and education activities is currently underway to provide knowledge and capabilities for the new digital economy, while addressing issues in autonomous systems, artificial intelligence and increased levels of interconnectivity. The centre focuses on exploring new approaches for system concepts, implementation and operating of complex systems through their lifecycle.

Responsibilities of an Assistant or Associate Professor include:

  • Developing an internationally-renowned, externally funded, independent research program;
  • Teaching master and doctoral school level classes;
  • Advising students at all levels in research activities
  • Participating in Skoltech shared governance processes and service activities.


  • Ph.D. in an Engineering or Science Discipline;
  • Proven capacity or clear potential to secure externally-sponsored research;
  • Demonstrated ability to produce scholarly publications;
  • Expression of a strong dedication to undergraduate and graduate-level teaching; and
  • Commitment to inclusiveness for all students in teaching, learning and advising.

The position is for a full appointment that will include a competitive salary and startup package to support the research, education and innovation at Skoltech. It is expected that the candidate’s appointment be made at the Assistant Professor rank, but outstanding candidates will be considered for appointment at the Associate Professor rank. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s prior experience and qualifications.  All activities at Skoltech are carried out in English, therefore, candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
