Position overview

The School is seeking new academic team member to contribute to the School’s aims through the Visual Arts and associated Design and Art History and Curatorship programs. The visual arts program pursues a conception of practice that is engaged, agile, ethical, transdisciplinary, and inclusive of material and digital practices. The candidate will have relevant experience in studio-based teaching and the technical, conceptual and historical underpinnings of contemporary textiles practice.

The ANU School of Art & Design fosters an environment to support individual and collaborative research and the position will undertake education development and delivery in coursework in the Bachelor of Visual Arts and the Bachelor of Design, and supervision in the corresponding graduate programs. It will promote cross-disciplinary partnerships to generate new forms of practice and research; in which the ANU offers an unmatched setting for developing future research projects and collaborations. The programs taught at the ANU School of Art & Design are a combination of engaged hands on making and leading-edge digital practice, unique in the Australian tertiary sector.

The ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) is the largest single College of seven Colleges at ANU. The College, which is structured into two main research schools, offers degrees in more than 20 discipline areas and excels in research across the creative arts, humanities and social sciences. The College has a substantial international research presence and is a major source of national policy advice. Our academic staff are internationally recognised for their research, and 57 are members of the Australian Academy of the Humanities, the Academy of the Social Sciences of Australia, or both.
