Research Assistant in Vivo Immunology

The University of Queensland Diamantina Institute was established in 2007 as the sixth research institute of The University of Queensland. The aim of the Institute is to develop a better understanding of the molecular and cellular basis of disease, and to translate that understanding into practical outcomes for patients. Based at the Translational Research Institute (TRI) at the Princess Alexandra Hospital teaching campus in Brisbane, the Institute has more than 300 researchers and students who work closely with clinicians in the areas of cancer, immunology and genomic medicine.
The successful appointee will conduct high quality research into antigen-specific tolerising immunotherapy. They will be responsible for managing and conducting high quality research using in vivo and in vitro immunological, molecular and imaging techniques and contributing to the quality assurance and monitoring of the data and documentation of all procedures.
Applicants should possess relevant degree with subsequent relevant experience, or extensive experience and specialist expertise in a laboratory researching cellular, molecular and in vivo immunology, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. You should also have a strong desire to develop a successful and highly-productive research career, a strong methodological background, excellent statistical and analytic skills, very good writing abilities, and the capacity to work with multidisciplinary research team. You will also have experience with core technologies including in vivo imaging, transcriptomics, flow cytometry and mass spectrometry, analysis of antigen presenting cells and antigen responses in vivo in mouse models and in humanised mice, and dissection of mechanisms of tolerance.

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 12 months at HEW Level 6. The remuneration package will be in the range $75,957.07- $81,714.50 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $88,869.77 - $95,605.97 p.a.).
