The School of Architecture and Urban Design is a multidisciplinary, multi-level design school undertaking scholarship in three Higher Education (HE) discipline areas: Architecture, Interior Design and Landscape Architecture and six Vocational Education (VE) discipline areas: Building Design (Architectural), Furniture Design, Graphic Design, Interior Decoration and Design, Product Design, and Visual Merchandising.

The Interior Design discipline at RMIT University consists of programs across the tertiary spectrum including vocational, undergraduate and higher degrees by research.

The Role and Your Responsibilities

Interior Design at RMIT University is engaged as a critical practice addressing conditions of interior and interiority, spatial and temporal environments. We are seeking applicants that can bring to the discipline contemporary expertise and leadership in the areas of either communication or technology. We are looking to appoint two Industry Fellows, one in each area of expertise. The appointment level will be determined based on your experience level. We welcome applicants that are interested in either a full time or part time contract.

The Senior Lecturer - Industry Fellow will facilitate an outstanding student experience and be responsible for developing, teaching and coordinating undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Interior Design.

You will take a leadership role and make a significant contribution to teaching and research activities that engage with contemporary approaches to communication and/or technology relevant to the future of spatial and temporal environments.

You will be responsible for maintaining and advancing scholarly, creative practice research and professional capabilities relevant to the discipline and course areas taught. Part of the role is also to actively promote the discipline by establishing and maintaining links and partnerships with academic, industry and professional communities.

Skills & Experience Required

To be considered for this opportunity, you will have qualifications and industry expertise in a relevant or associate discipline, you will have a demonstrated and outstanding creative practice and ability to undertake research activities that engage with contemporary approaches to either communication or technology relevant to the future of spatial and temporal environments, and the ability to prepare and deliver relevant high-quality programs at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Mandatory: Qualification in a relevant discipline area and demonstrated professional practice within the previous two years.
