Job Summary

The University of Michigan-Flint seeks a dynamic individual to assist with recruitment efforts of transfer students and credit evaluation needs of current students. This position will be responsible for assisting the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Registrar Office with transcript processing, credit evaluations, transfer equivalencies, credits adds, maintaining and updating the Universities transfer credit database, application processing, and assisting with the creation of transfer pathway guides. As the Transfer Processing Coordinator, this person will provide assistance with key stakeholders within the University of Michigan Flint.

This position is full-time, exempt and will be housed within the Undergraduate of Admissions Office and will work with both the Admissions and Registrar’s office. This person must be a self-starter, work independently, with demonstrated initiative, and exercise sound judgement. The preferred candidate will possess outstanding communication, analytical, and computer skills, be an effective team player, and an excellent organizer to handle multiple tasks.

Responsibilities*

Responsible for managing transfer applicant files. Prepares transfer applicants’ files by determining transfer evaluations and course equivalencies. Monitors the ready to review reports. Manages daily audit report. Makes manual corrections from duplicate course report. Updates all credit adds for applicants and current students. Builds and maintains transfer equivalencies database within Banner and University’s website. Research transfer credits to determine transfer equivalencies from other colleges and universities. Responsible for transfer reports, accuracy of transfer equivalencies, including military and international transfer courses. Reports and resolves any files resulting in a Trigger error (in partnership with ITS help desk).

Contact person for workflow management concerning transfer credits for OEL, Registrar, and faculty. Assists transfer coordinators with preliminary, unofficial transcript evaluations for prospective students. Works collaboratively with University key stakeholders with creation and maintenance of transfer pathway guides with main feeder community colleges. Updates MACRAO transfer websites. Updates Admission Transfer Equivalency Guide and assists with catalog language on website in reference to transfer students. Runs transfer admissions reports.

Serves as a back-up to admissions counselors in assisting all prospective students during on and off campus events. Ability to travel to various locations, mostly in the state of Michigan, if needed to fill in for admissions counselors.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications*

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Three or more years’ experience in higher education with experience with either transfer admissions, advising, or registrar. Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet multiple deadlines. Must have strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, written, and oral skills. Proven ability to operate independently, make independent decisions, and work collaboratively with key stakeholders. Knowledge of academic policies and curricula. Experience with transcript evaluations and course equivalencies. Strong desire to work in college admissions while putting prospective students’ needs first.

Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office and higher education software.

Desired Qualifications*

Master’s Degree in higher education or related field. Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office and Banner along with familiarity of Image Now.
