The School of Physics is seeking a motivated and confident Academic Administrator to provide excellent customer service and administrative support to the School’s Interface Analysis Centre (IAC) and its director, Professor Tom Scott.
The role will be based in a large research group. Tasks will include PA support for the director; liaison with researchers and postgraduate students; preparing financial and progress reports for funders; managing the IAC’s website; maintaining information on various databases including the PURE research database; managing group communications; facilitating regular team meetings; organising travel and accommodation; co-ordinating space usage; managing a complex diary and greeting visitors; placing orders and reconciling the budget.
You will have outstanding interpersonal and administrative skills, ideally gained in Higher Education administration or research support.
Confidence in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of software is necessary, as are excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. You must be comfortable working under pressure and dealing with a wide range of people and situations.
This post is part-time, 14 hours per week, ideally worked over 2 or 3 days, but exact working patterns are negotiable; the post is currently funded until 31/05/22.
