The Faculty of Education is now in an exciting time where the first National Programmatic Study of early childhood science, engineering and technologies has been established in the Peninsula Campus. The project expects to generate new knowledge about concept formation of infants, toddlers and preschoolers in play-based settings and homes. The leader is Professor Marilyn Fleer, who was awarded the 2018 Kathleen Fitzpatrick Australian Laureate Fellowship. This named Australian Laureate Fellowship is awarded to a highly ranked female candidate from the humanities, arts and social science disciplines. We are looking for three experienced Senior Research Fellows to work alongside a team of six PhD students to provide research on conceptual play by examining imagination in play, science, engineering and technology. This new and elite team of scholars will be funded through the Australian Laureate Fellowships scheme.
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
- A doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline coupled with demonstrable experience associated with young children
- Demonstrated ability to write high-quality journals with an emerging record of publications and conference papers
- Demonstrated high levels of organisational skills with the ability to plan and manage research funds
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment
The 2018 ARC Kathleen Fitzpatrick Australian Laureate Fellowship includes an ambassadorial role that promotes women in research. The successful candidate will be in a supportive environment that is specifically designed to mentor women.
There is opportunity for this role to be extended further depending on the progress of the Project.
