Non-tenure Track Faculty Position, Learning and Teaching in the 21st Century

The Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE) invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position from candidates with extensive expertise in educational practice who are focused on improving outcomes for all students ranging in approach to teaching and learning. Candidates could focus on any level of the PK-16 educational system and should work to advance HGSE’s institutional commitment to educational equity.
The areas of professional expertise of particular interest as they relate to learning and teaching across educational contexts in the U.S. and/or globally, include but are not limited to: innovations in curriculum and instruction; instructional design; redesigning and/or personalizing learning environments; supporting linguistic diversity and shifting student demographics; sustaining equitable and inclusive learning environments; supporting students with disabilities and learning differences; universal design for learning; promoting social-emotional development and positive child and youth development; teacher preparation and development across the career and effective professional learning; strengthening communities and networks of practice. Expertise and experience in the areas of in/out-of-school and non-traditional learning contexts is welcome.
The successful candidate will teach and advise in our master’s programs and will also be expected to become involved in the development and delivery of residential and online professional development programs for practitioners, administrators, and leaders through HGSE’s Programs in Professional Education. The ability to convey conceptual as well as practical knowledge beyond one’s own experience is crucial. Candidates should be able to teach in multiple areas and speak to a range of audiences, from early-career educators, to mid-career professionals, to senior leaders; communicate their work to diverse audiences through various channels (e.g., HGSE Usable Knowledge, media); and inform school-wide initiatives. The successful candidate will join a vibrant faculty community with a strong history of collaboration in relation to problems of policy and practice, as well as strong commitment to continuous improvement across all degree programs.
This search is open-rank and may result in the appointment of up to three non-tenure track faculty members at the rank of Lecturer on Education, Senior Lecturer on Education, or Professor of Practice. Faculty at all ranks advise students and participate in institutional governance and service.
Candidates will typically possess a doctorate or another terminal degree. Successful candidates will have substantial experience and a track record of accomplishment in traditional or entrepreneurial settings connected to the PK-16 system.
