We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated, efficient, and hardworking individual to join as a junior technician (level 2b) to support research within the Department of Biochemical Sciences within the School of Biosciences and Medicine. The Department undertakes cutting-edge research in Immunology, Cardiovascular Sciences and Chronobiology, using state-of-the-art techniques and facilities to investigate problems relating to human health and wellbeing.

The post holder must be able to work independently and as part of a team, including being able to work with postgraduate students, as well as technical and academic members of staff. Therefore strong organisational, communication skills, and a pro-active nature, are essential to the role. Key duties will include: 1) supporting the Bioimaging Laboratory Manager in providing a Bioimaging Facility (Flow Cytometry and Confocal Microscopy) for the University; 2) engaging with and supporting the research activities on-going within the Immunology Section; and 3) working closely with the other departmental technicians to provide broad laboratory support across the department. The post holder will also carry out laboratory inductions and the training of students and staff on various pieces of equipment within the Bioimaging Facility and Department. Experience with any of the following; flow cytometry, confocal microscopy and/or tissue culture, would be advantageous, but not essential, as full training will be provided. The post holder will also need to be vaccinated against hepatitis B, or be happy to be vaccinated.

As an employee of the University, you will receive a generous annual leave entitlement, childcare assistance, and access to world-class leisure facilities. Situated to the south west of London, the University is based in Guildford which is easily accessible by rail and road.
