This is an opportunity for a highly motivated mucosal immunologist to work on a project, investigating mechanisms instructing myeloid cell function in the gut during parasite infection. You will be a Research Associate in the laboratory of Dr. John Grainger in the University of Manchester’s Collaborative Centre for Inflammation Research (MCCIR) and Lydia Becker Institute within the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to plan and direct a research program exploring the local and long-range signals that contribute to monocyte/macrophage differentiation in gut inflammation.

You will be expected to develop and drive your own research project, pursue your research objectives in a rigorous and efficient manner and present your findings via peer-reviewed publications and oral presentations. Candidates must hold a PhD (or expect to obtain one shortly) in Immunology, with extensive theoretical and practical knowledge of mucosal immunology. Expertise in multicolour flow cytometry, in vivo models, particularly of gut infection, and primary immune cell isolation, particularly by FACS, are essential. Candidates should have a good publication record and hold a Home Office License.

Successful candidates may be subject to pre-employment screening carried out on our behalf by a third party. The offer of employment will be dependent on the successful candidate passing that screening. Whilst you will be required to provide express consent at a later stage, by continuing with your application now you acknowledge that you are aware that such screening will take place, and agree to take part in the process.
