We seek an enthusiastic Research Technician to join a project funded by a BBSRC grant to Prof Wendy Gibson and Prof Mick Bailey to investigate genetic exchange in the parasitic protists, Trypanosoma brucei andT. congolense.

The post involves a range of molecular and parasitological techniques, providing specialist technical support for the project as well as general laboratory support.

Candidates should have: a BSc degree or equivalent in Biochemistry, Microbiology or a related subject; experience of working in a laboratory using molecular biology and tissue/cell culture techniques, and preferably experience of working with microbial parasites or pathogens; you should have good interpersonal and time management skills and be able to communicate effectively, work within a team and organise your time efficiently. The position is full-time, with funding for 2 years.

This is a joint post between the Schools of Biological Sciences based in Bristol and the School of Veterinary Sciences based at Langford. You will be based at the Bristol site in the Life Sciences Building and may also need to work at the Langford site from time to time.
