Research degrees at Coventry University are changing, and at the heart of these exciting and innovative changes is the Doctoral College. This brand new role within the College is at the centre of what we do and has responsibility for the smooth running of the day to day operations of the Doctoral College Administration team, driving progression and completion across the entire portfolio of Research Degrees. Ensuring that it carries out its functions, you will work efficiently and effectively in providing aconsistently high standard of service to its clients, including PGRs and staff in Faculty and University Research Centres. The main functions of the team include PGR progression, examination and awards as well as advising PGRs and supervisors on individual student matters, Doctoral College and University policies and regulations relating to research programmes and will liaise directly with senior and high profile internal and external colleagues and visitors.
You will be responsible to the Senior Doctoral College Administrative Officer and will play a key role in will being actively involved in promoting a positive and professional image of the Doctoral College and Centre for Research Capability and Development and all of its activities. You will be expected to be flexible to support the effective management of resources to ensure that the Doctoral College is responsive to institutional priorities and supports the swift delivery of change.
You will be expected to establish personal and unit credibility by conducting regular meetings with key professional services and academic staff as appropriate.
We require an enthusiastic and adaptable person with excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to use their initiativeand work effectively across the Doctoral College. Accuracy and attention to detail are essential, as is the ability to remain calm under pressure. You should be competent in the use of a variety of computerised management information systems and software packages, including Microsoft Office. You will also have excellent customer care and organisational skills, coupled with the ability to manage your own workload. You should be qualified to at least A-level standard, or have equivalent qualifications, or experience in an educational institution.
