The Role and Your Responsibilities
The Lecturer, Media is expected to contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the School in disciplines related to their field of expertise, which should incorporate recent industry experience in radio production, podcasting, and/or sound design. More specifically, the Lecturer is responsible for carrying out teaching activities within the Undergraduate Media program and should demonstrate an ability to integrate their professional and/or creative practice with teaching and research. The Lecturer will be encouraged to bring their industrial knowledge and experience into their teaching practice and course offerings for students.
The Lecturer is also expected to actively promote the program by establishing and maintaining memberships, links and partnerships with academic, industry and professional communities. The Lecturer is expected to work collaboratively and collegially with fellow academics within the teaching team, and update colleagues and students on developments in their subject area or specialisation. The Lecturer may be responsible for course coordination and may be asked to undertake more specialised administrative and program-based leadership tasks within the School.
Skills & Experience Required
We are seeking an individual with a proven record of academic and/or professional achievement in the field of media as it relates to RMIT University's research efforts: this should include publications, creative works, or professional experience in the fields of radio/sound/podcasting, but could also include film, television, or online media. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, including the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary environment, will be essential for success in this role.
Experience with media technologies will be preferred: these technologies should include (but are not limited to) radio/audio studios and audio editing/design software, and proficiency in video production and editing.
Mandatory: PhD or equivalent in relevant field.
