Surrey Business School is a mid-sized business school with over 100 academic staff members from around the globe, and a highly cohesive and collegial atmosphere. It has been growing strongly, both in terms of size, and in terms of the quality and impact of its work in both teaching and research. The School runs a full slate of programmes including undergraduate, postgraduate and MBA programmes, as well as a PhD programme. Programmes are renowned for their quality in terms of intellectual rigor, student experience, and employability.

The programme portfolio includes four undergraduate programmes, with the Business Management programme also offering specialised tracks in Entrepreneurship, Human Resources Management and Marketing. The School is now seeking to develop undergraduate programmes further, by integrating new pedagogical approaches, greater focus on core strengths in digital economy, leadership, and responsible management practices, and by further enhancing the skills that make graduates business-ready. 

Surrey Business School is now seeking to appoint a Professorial Teaching Fellow with substantial experience in and a strong reputation for pedagogical innovation, programme leadership and development, and an in-depth understanding of quality assurance processes. The candidate should have the capacity to both manage current undergraduate programmes, and to revise them and/or develop and introduce new programmes. S/He will have significant experience in teaching, and a clear focus on relevant outcomes such as student experience indicators, measures of student progression and continuation, graduate employment, and others. The candidate will also have strong people management skills, as s/he will interact frequently with colleagues at all levels in Surrey Business School, the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences in which it sits, and the University at large. They are looking for a person with significant work experience in the UK higher education sector, ideally in business/management or an adjacent field, who also has an in-depth understanding of the international context in which business schools operate.

The successful candidate will serve as a member of the School’s Senior Management Team and contribute to the development of the School’s student experience strategy, in the context of the University’s corporate strategy that puts student experience first. There will be ample opportunities for the post-holder to become active in business engagement and executive education.
