As part of a project funded by the NERC, we are seeking a committed and engaged post-doctoral scientist to work on a project investigating the co-evolution of human hands and tool using behaviour. The project involves the experimental analysis of archaeological tool use and manufacture (flint, bone and wooden tool use, as well as tool creation: knapping, hafting, knot tying) in human subjects and comparative morphological/mechanical analyses across a range of primate species. This project would suit someone with interests in human evolution and experimental archaeological/paleontological approaches. Full training in the experimental methods will be given, but good computer skills and experience in data analytics (R, Python, Mat lab or another programming language) is essential.

You will need to have relevant experience and have (or shortly expect to get) a PhD in a suitable discipline: anthropology, archaeology, primatology, zoology or similar.
