The successful appointee will be responsible for the development technology for autonomous mining machinery. There are opportunities to support the development of research proposals, to supervise and mentor PhD students and to publish scholarly papers. The appointee will also be able to contribute to teaching undergraduate courses in mechatronic engineering and contribute toward a positive safety culture.
Applicants should possess a PhD (or significant progress toward a PhD) in Mechanical/Mechatronic Engineering with a strong focus on field robotics. You should have demonstrated expert knowledge in C++ software programming and software development and a track record of high quality publications The ability to effectively communicate findings to a broad audience and to stakeholders is essential as is the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. Experience in liaising and collaborating with external agencies to develop cooperative research will be highly regarded.

This is a full-time fixed term appointment at Academic level A. The remuneration package will be in the range $64,533 - $87,535p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $75,504 - $102,416p.a.).
