The discipline of Psychology is changing at JCU. A new era in education, research and professional development is unfolding and we are looking for dedicated, collegial professionals to join us on our journey.

We now offer an exciting opportunity for an Associate Professor in Clinical Psychology to direct the clinical program on a continuing, full-time basis at the Townsville campus.

Reinvigorating JCU Psychology over the next three years, we will embrace rigorous scholarship to advance and deepen our knowledge of how changing contexts, new research, and evolving technologies are shaping mental health services in the community.  Delivering high quality teaching and learning programs in a research-rich environment, our aim is to bring people together through powerful learning opportunities, to share ideas, create new knowledge, and foster expertise.

What you can accomplish in this role

Injecting renewed vision and focus for the discipline you will oversee the running of our clinical program for postgraduate students. Strengthening our research profile, you will supervise a range of students from undergraduate research to Clinical Masters and HDR students to build our reputation as an innovative and best practice research facility for the tropics. Applying contemporary and effective curriculum design and delivery methodologies, you will meet the learning needs of your students and ensure the success of the program.

What you will bring to this role

In addition to your extensive background in clinical psychology, coupled with PhD qualifications and a proven research record, you will require registration with the Psychology Board of Australia as a Psychology Board of Australia approved Clinical Supervisor. Full membership of the Australian Psychological Society’s College of Clinical Psychologists will also be highly regarded.

The opportunity to direct the clinical program is something you find truly motivating and rewarding and being part of a dedicated team who will deliver outcomes together is something you will relish as you expand your career.

Why is JCU the right career move for you?
