FINANCIAL COORDINATOR, Materials Science and Engineering, to assume responsibility for general compliance of department and research accounts and serve as a key component of the department’s finance operation. Will be responsible for monitoring the fiscal health of department accounts and maintaining reporting requirements; compliance activities including monitoring exception reporting of detailed transactions and conducting a monthly review of accounts; budget activities including monitoring commitments and fund balances and resolving external funding issues; research activities including proposal development and submission, account set up, extensions, and closeouts; working with faculty to forecast the impact of spending activity on accounts; analysis activities including creating and maintaining financial systems and tools; and performing other duties as necessary. Will report to the senior financial officer.
REQUIRED: a bachelor’s degree; a minimum of three years of relevant financial management experience; knowledge of federal research regulations; experience in academic programs and administration; excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills; attention to detail; demonstrated sound judgment; ability to quickly meet short turn-around times; strong experience with financial systems and sponsored accounting; excellent computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), SAP, COEUS, and electronic proposal submission software.
