Professor - Mathematics
The Department of Mathematics at The University of Chicago invites applications for the position of Professor of Mathematics. Candidates must have a doctoral degree in mathematics or a related field prior to beginning the appointment and have an outstanding research record. The successful applicant will be expected to conduct research in the area of partial differential equations, especially equations arising in connection with physics, such as nonlinear dispersive equations. The applicant will be expected to submit findings for publication, attend and present at various national and international conferences and professional meetings. The applicant will also be responsible for conducting graduate and undergraduate courses in Mathematics. Specifically, duties will include course preparation, review and grading of assignments, and academic advising of individual students as requested. Applicant will also serve on departmental committees and contribute to departmental administrative affairs, as directed by the Chair.
