Job description

An opportunity has arisen for a Lecturer to join our award winning Counselling and Psychological Therapies Division within the School of Community Health & Midwifery. This post is available part time for 0.6 WTE and will be based at the Burnley Campus.

The successful applicant must be a qualified and experienced counsellor or psychotherapist who will assist in the development and delivery of the undergraduate and post graduate provision in the School of Community Health & Midwifery.  The successful applicant will also be expected to contribute to the activities of the School and University in teaching, learning, assessment, research and income generation.

Thorough understanding of the counselling and psychotherapy profession and related professions is essential. In depth knowledge of Psychological Therapies is required, especially Psychodynamic, Person Centred and CBT. You will contribute to a variety of modules at both under and post graduate levels. In addition the successful applicant will have a keen interest in taking forward developments in the field of counselling and psychological therapies.

Teaching experience (ideally in Higher Education) is essential as is a first degree, teaching qualification (or willingness to undertake University PGCE on appointment) and professional qualification in counselling/psychotherapy.

Report writing and IT skills as well as an ability to work collaboratively are core requirements for this post.

DBS Clearance is required for this role and should be in place prior to appointment.
