Job description The University is currently establishing its centrally based Research Governance Unit and is looking for a number of individuals to contribute to its creation and future development and growth. Alongside this post, we are also seeking a Research Governance Officer and a Statistician to join our current staff base who support ethics and integrity services.
The Research Governance Manager will lead the Research Governance Unit, based within Research Services, and provide expert advice and guidance to academics, School research leads and senior management on all aspects of research governance for University staff and students. You will act as a key source of reference for issues on research governance, oversee support given to research projects and their compliance with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requirements. Oversee ethics and integrity relating to research within the University including NHS research and research involving human tissue work.
You will be an excellent external and internal networker and you will have insight and expert knowledge in systems and processes involved in NHS research.
As a member of the Research Services Executive Team you will lead strategy and developments around research governance and provide leadership and management oversight of the Research Governance Unit which will currently house 2.5 FTEs.
Research Services is comprised of 5 specialist Units: Grants and Funding; Research Excellence; Researcher Development; Ethics and Integrity and the Scholarly Communications Unit. The Ethics and Integrity Unit is evolving into the Research Governance Unit. There are 45 staff in total which do a mix of FT and PT work, and we are currently based in two areas of the Preston campus.
