The University is currently establishing its centrally based Research Governance Unit and is looking for a number of individuals to contribute to its creation and future development and growth. Alongside this post, we are also seeking a Research Governance Unit Manager to lead the team, and a Statistician to join our current staff base who support ethics and integrity services.
The Research Governance Officer will be a member of the Research Governance Unit, based within Research Services, and support the provision of advice and guidance to academics, School research leads on all aspects of research governance for University staff and students. You will act as a key source of reference for issues on research governance, provide support given to research projects and their compliance with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requirements. You will have specific knowledge and experience with supporting research governance work involving the NHS research and/ or research involving human tissue work.
Research Services is comprised of 5 specialist Units: Grants and Funding; Research Excellence; Researcher Development; Ethics and Integrity and the Scholarly Communications Unit. The Ethics and Integrity Unit is evolving into the Research Governance Unit. There are 45 staff in total which do a mix of FT and PT work, and we are currently based in two areas of the Preston campus.
