Applications are invited for appointment as Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal.

Applicants should possess a doctoral degree by research in Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline. They should have a strong computational and theoretical thermo-fluid and particle dynamics background, experience in numerical scheme development, demonstrated expertise in the analysis of green energy systems, ventilation and cooling systems, aerosol control and indoor air quality, excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work independently and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.  Relevant post-doctoral work experience such as management of research projects in Hong Kong or with funding from Mainland China, or involving in technology transfer, and an excellent publication track record would be an advantage.

The appointee will be primarily responsible for project management.  He/She will take up a leading role to oversee the junior research staff and students in research and operations; develop his/her own research program; write scientific publications, grant proposals and reports; teach or co-teach a module in postgraduate or undergraduate programmes; and assist in general administrative, operational and other duties as assigned.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with the appointee's qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.
