The Arthritis Research UK Centre for Epidemiology (CfE) are seeking a post-doctoral research associate to contribute to the Centre’s portfolio of research around harnessing digital health data for epidemiology research, with a focus on musculoskeletal disease. We are keen to recruit a highly motivated and effective researcher with an emerging publication record, and clear commitment to establishing an independent and leading programme of research in the field of digital health data. The post provides an excellent opportunity for someone with health informatics expertise to join a group who are leading innovation internationally in digital epidemiology.
You will work with epidemiologists, clinicians, health data scientists, industry partners, and patients and the public to drive research in CfE’s ‘Harnessing digital data’ theme. This includes the use and linking of electronic health record data sets; developing and evaluating digital tools to collect high quality patient-generated data (e.g. on symptoms, diet, physical activity) for enriching epidemiological studies and improving clinical care and self-management; and unlocking the potential of online patient communities.
We expect you to design and conduct high quality research in the area of digital epidemiology, and support development of applications to attract external funding. You will also contribute to ongoing projects in the Centre, and support students and other researchers in the Centre who (plan to) use digital health data in their projects. You will be encouraged and supported to apply for external fellowships within the first two years of the post.
You will be based at Centre for Epidemiology (University of Manchester), and will collaborate closely with the Centre for Health Informatics.
